There is a reason for that, your brain runs out of connections that allow you to take action after the first thought, “I shouldn’t be eating this.” Sugar disables the neurotransmitters in your brain, making it nearly impossible to quit sugar developing addictive behaviors towards this food with no nutritional value or goodness of any sort.
Know where corporations put their sugar to hook you into buying their specific brand. Savor the knowledge that you can read labels, and recognize how the sugar has been hidden, calling it different names with the only intention of tricking you. Why do you think you buy a specific thing and not another one which apparently is the same? The reason is the sugars and monosodium glutamates (MSG) used into this specific brand are designed to confuse your brain into an addiction to their specific brand. They should be prosecuted for this reason, right!?

Hello friends,
I work with many clients whose first issue they seek help with is sleeping better. We have conditioned ourselves with habits that are actually getting in the way of our brain's natural needs, to steadily prepare for a good night's rest.
Nights are designed to sleep. With all the technology interaction at night, our brain gets confused. While we are in front of a tv or laptop or phone our brain understands in daylight because the brain doesn’t know any better and stays wired keeping us awake until we turn screens off. Then the brain needs some time to realize that means sleep time by releasing melatonin to put our brain to sleep. Then the brain starts the cell restoration process and resting time. When we spend time in front of a tv, it is time we are shaving from restoring and resting causing all kinds of health issues or sleep deprivation. Under these circumstances our brain can function 100% the next day. Use these easy peasy technics to train...
Hello Nourish the Brain Community,
It's an honor to be writing my first blog piece for Nourish the Brain Institute. For those of you who may know, I have been working with Gemi in several capacities, all behind the scenes, for this outstanding institute.
In this interview, I was privileged to meet for the first time with John Freeman, Transcendental Meditation (TM) Director and Certified Teacher in San Luis Obispo, CA.
Gemi and I walked into his breathtaking garden oasis and set up filming right away. I could tell he was not only a profoundly eloquent person but also a fully energized advocate of the TM Community. As this was my first experience with the concept of this practice, I was all ears about its mechanics. So, watch the interview and find out what Transcendental Meditation involves, and how it is uniquely set apart from other guided meditations you may have tried.
What makes Transcendental Meditation a unique and...
Hello Everyone~
One of the things that kept coming back to my mind when I had my brain health breakdown in 2006 was a question, of course, “Why doesn’t everyone know that you can put your brain back together with food, superfoods, and simple routines and structure?” When we as a society rely on food and natural remedies for a quick fix only, no wonder we fail.
With all my education and degrees, I never thought I would be teaching, and for the last 4 years, it has basically been what I do with my clients, on different levels. From the Group Series to 1:1 and lately creating the new certification program Dynamic Nutrition Specialist, my mission in life is guiding my clients and students to discover this other world of health without depending on quick fixes. Our body is not Amazon Prime, results are not instant. It takes time to heal when you allow.
Teaching community college at Cuesta College made so much sense to me, the more people who hear the...

Our body is a magnificent engineered machine. We put our body through all kinds of tests, and it usually passes them all with flying colors. From eating processed foods loaded with chemicals, drinking sodas or alcohol, refined sugars, smoking cigarettes, legal/illegal drugs, etc…
When I was a kid, I wanted to do anything my dad did -- even if it was something crazy like soccer training with full grown men. My dad was always a hero in my eyes.
My dad passed away 10 years ago after a fierce fight against cancer… with today’s eyes I see him as a flawed hero, but still a hero. I will tell you one story today that shaped me from the beginning in my life.
How to overcome my fear was one of the greatest lessons my dad taught me as a child. I still use it to this day. Here’s how my Dad taught me to move past fear.
Have any of you ever been terrified of darkness? I was! I can’t remember for how long but at least for a couple years I had to sleep with the hallway lights on in case in the middle of the night. I was waking up. If that wasn’t enough, our home was far from the population in town, not in the boonies but separated from the main town by a piece of land which in my eyes it...
Don’t worry about the “how.” This is the hardest part of creating goals. When we are creating a goal we want to know everything and if we don’t we get stressed, anxious, fear kicks in and we are done! Fear stops us from taking any sort of action.
This is normal.
How many times have you created a goal and given up before taking any action, because you don’t know how it's going to play out?
Healthwise it happens the same way. When clients come to me, often they have a physical goal they want to achieve. The truth is that soon enough they realize the goal they set up is not really the goal they need to achieve in the first place but if they hadn't set up the first goal they wouldn’t know that.
When you want to transform your...
Jonathan: Where are you originally from, because I know it's not what people think?
Gemi: Well, I am from Barcelona originally. I'm from Catalonia and is northeast of Spain, and we like to be our own. I live in and enjoy California. I love being here, and I created my business and I feel like it's the best time of my life here in California, at least professionally.
Jonathan: So, you married an American, came here as a spouse, got your green card, learned to work in California, so...
First memories are rather interesting because you are never quite sure just how accurate they are. It’s either because you were very young or you have revisited the memory so many times over the years that it evolves with each revisit. I do have an early memory and when I talked to my mom about it awhile back, she said, “It is impossible that you remember that, you were only a year and a half old!”
My first memory is being strolled by my mom down the street on a nice spring morning. I saw a lady sitting in a green and white garden chair watching people walk below her balcony. She was in all black, from head to toe, including a scarf on her head which covered up her hair. This lady was old with very wrinkled skin and she didn’t have any teeth in her mouth. She smiled at us as we were approaching and my mom stopped below the balcony, they had a few words and then we kept walking. I don’t remember what they...
